There are moments in life when the familiar shoreline disappears. Transition, mobility, change, loss—these experiences can pull us beneath the surface, into colder and quieter waters, where meaning slips through fingers and our sense of orientation vanishes.
My work is about accompanying people through such passages. I descend where needed, stay present in the undercurrent, and help people and systems find their way back toward light, air, and safety.
The settings may differ, but the movement remains the same.
I work with adults, teens, children, parents, couples, and families navigating periods of transition.
Facing challenges can be frightening. I support the brave people who dare to do so. The way I approach my work is described in My Five Step Approach.
Tranistions also move through systems.
One of my areas of particular expertise is how mobility affects people in educational settings. Authoring Safe Passage: How Mobility Affects People and What International Schools Should Do About It led to the founding of Safe Passage Across Networks (SPAN), an independent non-profit organization dedicated to supporting positive transitions care in education. SPAN has its own mission and website and is informed by the same underlying body of research and practice.
I provide keynotes, workshops, trainings and consultation for professionals seeking attachment-informed, research-grounded ways of understanding transition and care at scale, both within educational settings and beyond. Past clients include the European Space Agency, the World Bank, the Council of International Schools (CIS), Shell, EARCOS and other regional school organizations, as well as international schools across the globe.
Supported by CIS and supervised by one of the world’s foremost authorities in attachment, my PhD dissertation, Safe Passage for Attachment Systems (Erasmus University Rotterdam) provides the empirical foundation for my work and for the arguments in Safe Passage: How Mobility Affects People and What International Schools Should Do About It. Alongside academic writing, I publish podcasts, books, essays, and ongoing reflections that bring theory and experience into dialogue.
