The practice generally has a waiting list of anywhere between 6 – 12 weeks. For clients who are able or willing to start via video consultations, the waiting period can often be shorter. Regular sessions can continue immediately after an intake.
I offer the majority of my services as “coaching,” which is not reimbursable by Dutch healthcare insurance. Clients with foreign insurance (CIGNA, JSIS, Allianz, etc.) often can receive reimbursement. Since Dr. Ota bills clients directly and does not maintain a direct relationship with any insurance provider, it is the client’s responsibility to investigate reimbursement issues themselves with their insurance company prior to commencing treatment.
Consultations are €204 per 45 minute session. Coaching services require the levying of VAT tax (21%). While most individual meetings are 45min, I sometimes work with 60, 75, or even 90 minute meetings if such meetings better address the needs of the individual, couple, or family. Consultations are therefore billed in 15-minute increments (€68/15min).
A few evening sessions are available each week to accommodate work or school schedules. I charge 1/3 more for evening sessions, which start at or after 5pm.
Dr. Douglas W. Ota, PhD is a BIG‑registered healthcare psychologist practicing in the Netherlands under the provisions of the Wet op de beroepen in de individuele gezondheidszorg (BIG Act).

The CBKZ provides complaint mediation and dispute resolution in accordance with the Wet kwaliteit, klachten en geschillen zorg (Wkkgz).

Yes, but clients are kindly requested to notify me within at least 48 hours of any need to change or cancel an appointment. Appointments cancelled within that time frame must generally be billed.
If you have already started treatment with me, I generally encourage clients to let me know themselves if they are in crisis via telephone. If the matter is urgent and life threatening, they should be in touch with their huisarts (GP). Outside of office hours, clients should be in touch with the emergency line at Hadoks (070 346 9669) or call 112 directly.
